Cynthia Lief Ruberg was born in New York City and raised in Philadelphia. She received her BA from Boston University in 1967 and her MS Ed in Counseling from the University of Dayton in 1987. In the interim years, she raised three sons with her husband. Cynthia maintains a private clinical practice specializing in relationships and sex therapy. She also teaches and gives presentations to the public. Cynthia formerly taught human sexuality to medical students at the Ohio State University College of Medicine and at the University of Dayton. She also maintains a presence on various web sites. Interviews with Cynthia have appeared on local television, in newspapers and magazines. Cynthia has authored numerous articles and a sexuality self-help book for women. She is licensed as a Professional Clinical Counselor-Supervisor and is certified in sex therapy as well as in counseling and family therapy. She has been married since 1966 and is a loving mother and grandmother.

Cynthia believes that a good sex life is composed of self and sexual comfort within a loving and intimate relationship and that these factors are integral to living a fulfilling life. Cynthia treats sexual concerns within the context of couples therapy based on her beliefs that each partner is affected by the other's sexual concerns and that a couple's sexual concerns commonly impact their relationship and vice-versa. She also treats individuals if they are not in a relationship.
